MUTATING CITIES is a spatial investigation of contemporary cities as sites of exchange. These projects explore the theoretical, conceptual and experiential impacts of mutation(s) on cities. They question the impact of malleable and transient boundaries. They interrogate the ways that cityscapes are shaped by the socio-economic and geopolitical effects of cultural production. They ask how culture is implicated in the making of city as narrative and find new methods of considering the role of futurity.

In 2010 YOUMNA CHLALA and CHRISTOPH a. KUMPUSCH co-founded the Institute of Mutating Cities. This project is a part of this inter-disciplinary collective.
