Tetris Housing

housing scheme for the city of Gurugram

housing design studio | fall semester 2017 | faculty: ar. kshitij kapoor, prof. ekta gyani; design partner: akashleena ray

Synopsis

Taking cue from the tile-matching video game, Tetris, this project proposes prefabricated housing units that can be customised and assembled in variable schemes across a masterplan for a sector in the city of Gurugram, a growing satellite town. The scheme proposes residential units designed around a 9m by 9m module, manufactured in a factory using CLT (cross-laminated timber), which can be installed on site as independent residences or apartment blocks as per the masterplan.
